Hundred Club October Newsletter

Hello,
At the Hundred Club, October marks the beginning of a very meaningful and busy season. Over the coming months, we will be embarking on new endeavors, strengthening existing partnerships, and continuing to build relationships throughout communities across Massachusetts.

Those connections are at the heart of what we do.
Whether we are sitting down with a police or fire department, meeting with a business or community leader, welcoming a new member, or spending time with one of the families we are honored to serve, each connection reminds us that our mission is about people.  It is about showing up, listening, building trust, and making sure that when a family suddenly needs us, they know they are not alone.

There is much ahead for the Hundred Club, and we are excited to share this journey with you. Thank you for continuing to make the connections that make our work possible—and for helping us remain ready for those left behind.

Wishing you a beautiful October filled with crisp autumn days, meaningful moments, and plenty of reasons to be grateful.

With gratitude,
Tracie A. Hines
Executive Director

Honoring Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the staff of the Hundred Club of Massachusetts had the privilege of attending the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Annual Ceremony to honor the brave firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

It was a day filled with reflection, remembrance, and an incredible sense of brotherhood and sisterhood.  Watching these men and women, so incredibly proud to serve their communities, was a powerful reminder of the strength and commitment that define the fire service.  The names of 27 deceased Massachusetts firefighters were added to the memorial’s Ring of Honor, including Boston Firefighter Robert “BK” Kilduff, Jr., who died in the line of duty on May 23, 2026.

For the Hundred Club, being there was about more than remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  It was about standing beside the firefighters who continue to answer the call and standing with the families who are forever changed when that call becomes their family’s reality.

Together with our members, we stand ready.  Together, we honor.  Together, we support the families left behind.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside the men and women of the fire service and to be part of a community that understands that support doesn’t end with a loss, it continues for the family for life.

The Hundred Club of Massachusetts is honored to welcome Peter Lynch to the Norman Knight Founders Circle. Peter is President of the Lynch Foundation and Vice Chairman of Fidelity Management & Research Company and is considered one of the most successful money managers in Wall Street history, managing the Magellan Fund at Fidelity — the best performing fund in the world under his leadership from May 1977 to May 1990.

Peter also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and for decades, has demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.  His decision to join the Founders Circle is another powerful example of that commitment, and one that will have a lasting, positive impact on the families we serve.

Through this generous investment in The Hundred Club, Peter is helping ensure that when a fire or police family experiences a tragic loss, they are met with meaningful and compassionate support, they have access to resources and opportunities that create stability and possibilities for the future, and they remain connected to a community that honors their loved one’s service – for generations.

Thank you, Peter, for your service, your many decades of giving back, and for believing in our mission. Your generosity strengthens an enduring legacy and ensures that the Hundred Club is there when families need us most.  We are honored and grateful to welcome you to the Founders Circle.

This fall, the Hundred Club of Massachusetts has been stretching our outreach and bringing our mission into communities across the Commonwealth. From the PFFM meeting in Salisbury, to the Golden Rule Lodge Car Show, our first time attending the Massachusetts–IAAI Annual Training Conference, and a great day in Lakeville at the Horseshoe Tournament hosted by the Bristol County Fire Chiefs Association, and the official Bruins BFit Kickoff Party, we have been proud to show up, connect, and strengthen relationships throughout the police and fire community.

What makes these experiences so meaningful is the people we meet along the way. Seeing our members, beneficiaries, police officers, firefighters, and countless supporters remind us just how strong the Hundred Club community truly is.  Every handshake, conversation, and shared story helps us build connections that matter, and ensures more people know that the Hundred Club is here to stand ready for those left behind.

We are grateful for every invitation, every conversation, and every opportunity to be part of these communities.  Wherever the police and fire family gathers, we want the Hundred Club to be there.

The Hundred Club of Massachusetts is exploring a lighthearted but meaningful membership initiative with police departments across the Commonwealth.  We’ll be reaching out to Chiefs to invite their departments to participate by allowing officers to grow their hair or facial hair for a designated period, at the Chief’s discretion, in support of the Hundred Club and the families we serve.

For departments where facial hair is not typically permitted, we’re asking Chiefs to consider a temporary exception as part of the campaign, with participating officers becoming Hundred Club members.  It’s a simple way to have a little fun, build camaraderie, and make a meaningful difference.  Most importantly, every new member strengthens our ability to support the families of fallen active-duty police officers and firefighters across the Commonwealth.  If you have any questions, reach out to Sandra Montesino at smontesino@100clubmass.org.

The Hundred Club of Massachusetts launched our new Ambassador Program.  An opportunity for police officers, firefighters, chiefs, and beneficiaries to continue making a difference by serving as volunteer representatives of the Hundred Club throughout the Commonwealth.

As a Hundred Club Ambassador, you’ll help strengthen relationships with departments, communities, businesses, and supporters while sharing the mission of the Hundred Club throughout the Commonwealth.
