Caring for Those Who Care for Us – November Newsletter

Dear Members & Friends,

As we enter this season of gratitude, I’m reminded every day of the strength of this community. Whether you’ve been with us for decades or just joined this year, your commitment ensures that when tragedy strikes, the Hundred Club is there — quickly, quietly, and without question.

Thank you for standing with us. Together, we honor the fallen by lifting up their families, not just in a moment, but for a lifetime.

Executive Director

Membership Renewals:

Standing Together for Families of the Fallen

There are moments when our mission rises beyond words and becomes action.

When a first responder doesn’t make it home, the Hundred Club is there—within 24–48 hours if needed—standing by their family with immediate support, compassion, and an unwavering promise: You will not walk this path alone.

You have been part of that promise.

In the past year, your membership helped us:

  • Provide emergency financial relief within hours of tragedy
  • Offer ongoing support to spouses and children long after headlines fade— including scholarships
  • Honor the legacy of the fallen with remembrance, dignity, and presence

As we close 2025, we’re asking members who haven’t yet, to renew their commitment so we can continue to be ready whenever tragedy strikes. Your renewal directly funds emergency relief, scholarships for surviving children, and long-term support for families who have lost a hero.

Membership levels range from $100 to $25,000 and above, with options for individuals, unions, and community partners — helping sustain our mission. If you are a local business owner, please consider becoming a business member and showing the community that your business stands with our first responders.

This year, we’ve also made it easier to give and/or process your membership through DAFs, 401Ks, IRA/QCD, and plan for legacy gifts, for those who wish to ensure this promise lives on. Please reach out to thines@100clubmass.org to learn more.

Honoring Legacy. Securing the Future

The Hundred Club of Massachusetts is proud to announce the creation of the Norman Knight Founder’s Circle — a distinguished Lifetime Membership category that honors the extraordinary legacy of our founder, Norman Knight, and ensures a lasting impact on the families we serve.

This exclusive circle – limited to the first 100 individuals who step forward – recognizes individuals whose steadfast commitment strengthens the foundation of our mission. This new category of membership will ensure that we can respond immediately and meaningfully when a first responder makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Every legacy begins with a few who believe deeply enough to take the first step.

We are profoundly grateful to Hundred Club board members Dick Carlson, Sean McGrath, and Peter Smyth — the inaugural members of the Norman Knight Founder’s Circle — for setting this vision in motion.

Their generosity reflects not only their personal commitment to our mission, but also their shared belief that the families of the fallen deserve more than support in a moment of crisis — they deserve security for generations to come.

Because of their leadership, the Norman Knight Founder’s Circle has already begun to take root as a lasting legacy of compassion, courage, and care.

BFit Challenge – Lace Up for the Families

Because of supporters like you, we respond within 48 hours when a firefighter or police officer is lost. The BFit Challenge is a powerful part of that commitment — every step climbed is a step toward a family in need.

Thinking of climbing again? Select the Hundred Club of Massachusetts as your charity of choice.

Not participating? You can still sponsor a team or donate in honor of a fallen hero.
Your participation keeps our promise alive.

The 100 Club Brewery Tour: Pints, People, Purpose

This fall, we’re bringing members, first responders, families, and friends together for our first-ever statewide Brewery Tour — a chance to raise a glass, make new connections, and share the kind of conversations that remind us why we stand together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first tour stop at Greater Good Imperial Brewing in Worcester! We hope you made new friends, reconnected with old ones, and left reminded of the incredible network of people behind this mission. Stay tuned for more community gatherings in 2026!

Next up is Mighty Squirrel in Waltham – Thursday, November 13  from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.  First round of community is on us. Bring a friend.

Honoring Bravery Across The Commonwealth

In the spirit of courage and commitment, the Hundred Club congratulate this year’s recipients of the 42nd Annual Trooper George L. Hanna Memorial Awards for Bravery — honoring members of law enforcement across Massachusetts who have demonstrated extraordinary heroism in the line of duty.

Their actions remind us why the Hundred Club exists — to stand ready to support those who protect and serve, and to be there for their families when they need it most.

Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation

It was an honor for The Hundred Club of Massachusetts to attend the 36th annual ceremony of the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, where we joined families, colleagues and community members in a solemn and moving tribute. At the Ceremony, we were privileged to acknowledge the induction of Sergeant Ian Taylor of the Billerica Police Department — a dedicated law-enforcement professional whose service touched countless lives.

Sergeant Taylor lost his life on April 26, 2024, at the age of 49, while working a construction-detail traffic assignment on Boston Road in Billerica. A veteran of 21 years in law enforcement — including service with the Lawrence Police Department and then Billerica since 2011 — Sergeant Taylor also served his community deeply through the Substance Awareness and Prevention Committee, helping those battling addiction.

We gratefully acknowledge his wife, Mindy, his children Kylee and Nathan, his parents and brothers, as well as all who loved him and supported his mission of service. His legacy of compassion and courage remains a powerful example of what it means to serve and protect.
