Lt. Russell died in the hospital from injuries he sustained during a fire in the old John W. McCormack Federal Building. The fire was confined to a ‘Bobcat’ and building materials on the 2nd floor, which created a very heavy smoke condition on the upper floors. Fire Lieutenant Russell had 21 years of service
