Officer Lonchiadis was shot when he interrupted an auto theft in progress on Rt. 9 on March 5th, 1975. Officer Lonchiadis had been a Shrewsbury Police Officer for 9 months, and was 28 years old at the time. He left behind a loving wife, young daughter and a young son. His son, Detective Lieutenant James Lonchiadis, has been a Shrewsbury Police Officer since 1995.
