David C. Fitzgerald‚ 63‚ a 31-year career firefighter with the Somerville Fire Department‚ died of a heart attack on October 13‚ 2000‚ after responding to emergency calls. He served in the military during the Cuban missile crisis. Somerville Fire Department awarded him its Medal of Honor posthumously.
