Police Officer Augustine J. Belmonte of the Saugus Police Department was shot and killed in a gun battle with three armed robbery suspects at the Red Coach Grill on Route 1. Officer Belmonte had served with the Saugus Police Department for eight years. He is survived by his wife and two sons
