Officer Michael Kominsky died after a long battle with cancer.
Officer Kominsky joined the West Bridgewater Police Department in 1995 as a part-time patrol officer. In 1998, he became a full-time officer of the West Bridgewater Police Department. He was the son of former Chief of Police Robert Kominsky.
Officer Kominsky had a highly decorated career with the West Bridgewater Police Department and held Badge #1, as the most senior patrol officer for the Department.
Earlier this month, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for over 29 years of service to the Town and the officers of the West Bridgewater Police Department by Chief Nixon.
In August 2021, Officer Kominsky was also awarded the Medal of Valor for heroics he displayed in the apprehension of a murder suspect wanted out of Boston by Chief Victor Flaherty Jr.
In October 2014, Officer Kominsky was awarded the Life Saving Medal for reviving and rescuing a man who was trapped in an underground sewer.
