The 3rd Annual BFit First Responder Challenge at the TD Garden hosted by The Boston Bruins Foundation on January 27, 2019 wrapped up as another major success in fundraising for the 100 Club.
This year’s Event had 730 participants (including 173 civilians) running the course and 123 teams from cities and towns all over the Commonwealth. All who came together to raise . . . drum roll please . . . . $500,000 for the 100 Club!
The Boston Bruins Foundation has catapulted the 100 Club to a new level of fundraising, and we are honored to be a part of their team. In only three years, we are just shy of raising $1,000,000.
Of course none of it would be possible without the hard work of everyone involved and all of the sponsors who donated to the Event.
National Grid was the main sponsor of the Event, and we couldn’t have done it without their generosity. Under Armour was very generous once again contributing as a sponsor as well as donating shirts for all of the participants.
The winning teams this year were the Boston Police Runners Club raising over $50,000 with Cecil Jones in the lead as the individual winner.
For the fire, it was Worcester Fire Fighters Local 1009 raising over $37,000.
We would like to make special note to three individuals who raised over $10,000 each – Yuri Bukhenik and John Fanning of the Massachusetts State Police and Andrew Staruk from Worcester Fire.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Brian Steorts from Flags of Valor who along with Under Armor presented the winning teams with wooden flags handcrafted by Veterans. A great tribute to all
