Become a Sponsor of the 2018 BFit First Responder Challenge

The Boston Bruins Charitable Foundation, Inc. is holding its second annual BFit First Responder Challenge (the “Event’) on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the TD Garden.   The winning teams are the teams that raise the most money from each the fire and police divisions.  This year the Bruins have expanded the eligible participants to include a fan category that will allow supporters of first responders to participate.  It is anticipated that first responders that will participate include police officers and firefighters from various cities and towns in the Commonwealth, the FBI, the State Police, the Massachusetts National Guard and the MBTA Transit Police.

Last year National Grid underwrote all of the expenses for Event.  As a result, the Hundred Club received 100% of the gross proceeds that amounted to approximately $130,000 from the Event.  This year National Grid has again generously agreed to be the presenting sponsor of the Event.  This relationship with the Bruins is critical to the Hundred Club.  Through the generosity of the Bruins and National Grid, the Club not only raises substantial funds for the endeavors of the Club, but the Event gives the Club a raised profile in Massachusetts that would be very difficult for us to achieve on our own.

There are three different ways you can help: (i) sponsoring a team through a tax deductible contribution of your own funds or funds you raise on behalf of the Event; (ii) becoming a sponsor; or (iii) simply making a donation. I am attaching information on the Event and on the sponsorship opportunities.  If you can help in any way, please call Janice Anderson at the Club (617-536-4410) or by email at  and she will instruct you on how to proceed.

The most recent three line-of-duty deaths have left 13 children fatherless.  Some of our beneficiary families have been beneficiaries of the Club for more than 40 years.  The essence of the Club can be summed up as follows:  The Club gives an unequivocal and unconditional promise to first responders that in the event they are killed in the line of duty the Club will never forget their service and the Club will compassionately care for their surviving families for the rest of their lives.

Thank you.

The Boston Bruins Foundation’s BFit 2nd Annual First Responder Challenge – January 28, 2018

The Club is pleased to be working with the Boston Bruins Charitable Foundation once again to host the BFit First Responder Challenge held at the TD Garden.   The Event will take place on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

Because of the tremendous amount of interest from friends and families of our participating first responders, this event will include a stair climb challenge with teams made up of our “Friends of First Responders” who will be able to compete and raise money for the Club as well.

The Club is looking forward to another successful event.

Please see the attached flyer for event details.

2017 Boston Bruins Foundation Bfit First Responder Challenge a Huge Success!!

A big thank you to the Boston Bruins Foundation, who without the hard work of John Whitesides and Bob Sweeney, this event would not have taken place.  A big shout out to National Grid who presented the event, Under Armour and Lahey Health who sponsored and all of the volunteers who made the day go smoothly.

It was truly amazing to see the overwhelming amount of comradery, generosity, sportsmanship, friendship and love that came out of this event.  The amount of dedication and commitment from all who came together on this was unsurpassed.   Teams from all over the Commonwealth came together to complete the stair climb challenge and raise money to benefit the Hundred Club.  To see a video from this event, please click the following link:

The BFit First Responder Challenge competition held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the TD Garden was the first of its kind and will be an annual event going forward.

BFit as part of the Boston Bruins Foundation was developed by John Whitesides, the Bruins former strength and conditioning coach to promote health and wellness through the community.  Follow this link for more information on BFit:
